Eric Morecambe Graffiti in Loughborough

Over the last few weeks I’ve spotted some stencil graffiti that looks like Eric Morecambe in and around Loughborough. The first one I spotted was on the bridge crossing the Great Central Railway on Rushey Lane (Though it was soon painted over). Then I began to notice them in Loughborough town centre whilst out shopping and on a number of traffic signal boxes and signs.

Is it Art? Possibly. But if so it’s not particularly great – it’s hardly a touch on Banksy!

why is it that every single ignorant person in britain now has to compare all art to banksy? for god’s sake, learn about what you are talking about before you assume all street art, spray paint or graffiti is inspired by banksy.

I have an Art Degree… i’ll compare what I want.

Nowhere did I say that it was inspired by Banksy…

furthermore to say one shouldn’t compare artwork that is produced using the same media/mediums is just plain daft… why on earth not?

I was just searching for these on google and found your site.

I also have an art degree (Fine Art)

Street art is of course art, anything may be art… these are fun but not groundbreaking and I have to disagree that you cannot compare… to say you shouldn’t compare one type of art or one artists work to another is ridiculous.

Art should exist for the public, to say the public are not allowed to comment/compare is not only artistic elitism its also verging on the disruption of free speech.
