1940′s NAAFI Tearoom

I recorded this in the NAAFI tearoom at the Great Central Railway April 2009.

The tearoom is decorated and set as if it were the 1940s. Era music and the crackling of a fire proved irresistible to record, sadly it didn’t last long as customers arrived for a cup of hot chocolate!

Thunder, Rain and Planes

Summer rain – it’s the best type of rain, especially when your water butt is getting low! I’d just returned from a walk in the countryside when the heavens opened with a crack of thunder and lightning, the rain soon started to tap away on our aluminum garden patio furniture set.

Listen closely and you should hear aircraft flying in to land at East Midlands Airport.

St Feliu de Guixols Harbour

The sounds of St Feliu de Guixols harbour at dusk. Dogs barking, distant traffic, boats, seagulls and sailors readying their vessels for a night’s fishing.

Birds and Music Tossa de Mar

On a walk around the Walls at Tossa de Mar I caught this live mix of birds and music. The walled part of Tossa is famous for its small restaurants and it was from one of them that the music came from.

Borth y Gest Distant Trains

Second (and possibly better) Recording made at Borth y Gest bay, Wales near Porthmadog. Trains from the Ffestiniog Railway can be heard crossing the cob in the distance. Also features small boats and yachts in the foreground. Stereo recording.

Flamenco

After a meal at Pizzeria Calimero we strolled around St Feliu and heard the sounds of feet stomping and Flamenco music. The source was a Flamenco class in the first floor of the old casino on Passeig del Mar (now a cafe).

Sardana Dance

Catalan Sardana Dancing, While meeting up with some spanish friends in Palamos I was lucky enough to catch some Sardana dancing. Sardana dancing is a traditional Catalan circle dance accompanied by a band (called a Cobla)
